Sibiu, a city that will enchant you with its distinctive charm and cultural diversity

The Old Town of  Sibiu has a distinctly Germanic feeling, with sections of the medieval wall still guarding the historic area. Walking along its narrow streets, visitors will see 17th-century buildings with gable overhangs before opening up into vast, church-dominated squares like the Great Square and the Little Square.

Sibiu is a pedestrian-friendly city with two easily accessible levels: the Upper town, home to most of Sibiu's historic sights, and the Lower town lined with colourful houses on cobblestone streets and bounded by imposing city walls and defence towers overlooking the Cibin River.

Sibiu, or Hermannstadt in German, is a historical gem located in the heart of Transylvania, Romania. Founded in the 12th century by German settlers, Sibiu was the largest and wealthiest of the seven-walled citadels. Its impressive buildings and fortifications were paid for by the riches amassed by the city's guilds, and much of the grandeur of its earlier days can still be seen today in Sibiu's Old Town.
