Vallemaggia Valley and its 3 valleys Ticino,Switzerland
Valley 1: Val Bavona: One of the magic valleys in Vallemaggia region, a place to do a time reset
If you are driving, put San Carlo in your GPS or take the bus or you can use a bicycle.
Go to Ticino, the Italian part of Switzerland, to the city of Locarno. Then drive to the north towards Vallemagia, about 10 minutes drive outside of the Locarno city.
Make sure you take the street to the right in Ponte Brolla, before you cross the Maggia valley and you head towards Maggia village. You can stop right at Ponte Brolla and the intersection and descent to the valley for a charming view.
Go upwards the river Maggia and turn on Val Bavona, the steepest and rockiest valley in this Alpine region.

From San Carlo you can take the cable car to Robiei and go to the glacier.
Valley 2- Bosco Gurin: On Vallemagia go on the west side, to visit an authentic Alp's village, Bosco Gurin
Bosco Gurin can be reached from Vallemagia turning to the left in Cevio and going up until the end of Valley of Bosco Gurin, near the Italian border.
It is situated at 1500 m and the village at highest altitude in canton Ticino. In this village the official language is German, it is the only municipality were German is spoken.
In the winter is an interesting ski resort.

Distance from Brissago: 50km ~1hr drive (last part on a very steep and curvy road)
Valley 3: Valle Lavizzara: on Vallemagia Region, go to Mogno to visit the modern church(architect Mario Botta)
Drive from Brissago to Locarno, to Vallemaggia, pass village of Cevio, then in a few km turn right on to the road that climbs to Mogno and Fusio.
The drive from Brissago to Mogno takes about 1 hour and is about 50km. See map here.
The church story: In April 1986 an avalanche destroyed the old church from the village of Mogno. The Swiss star architect Mario Botta was comissioned to build a new church. He came up with a controversial project that is well known in the architecture literature.
