Name Lenzerheide
The name "Lenzerheide" is of Romansh origin, a Romance language spoken in parts of Switzerland. "Lenz" means "spring" or "meadow," while "heide" means "heath" or "moor." So, Lenzerheide likely refers to a spring meadow or a meadow on the heath.

Lenzerheide is a Swiss Mountain Resort situated at 1500 m in the Alps. Lenzerheide has about 225 km of ski slopes and together with Arosa with which has a cable connection, it became recently the largest ski area in Switzerland. There are many outdoor activities to be done here: alpine skiing, cross-country skiing (Langlauf), the great flat walking area around a Heidsee lake, different mountain hiking paths for the summer and winter, fantastic views-panorama, skating, swimming, sledding, all kind of water sports - sailing, windsurfing, boating, nautic-ski, etc.

How to reach
1. By car: ~1.30-1:45h Highway drive from Zurich to Chur - 121km~1hr20 The double lane comfortable mountain road makes a quite easy drive from Chur to Lenzerheide -16/18km in about 25min ( the road is well maintained in the winter - but you need winter tires, most of the time no chains are needed) 2. By Public Transport ~2:09h (incl. waiting 10 min in Chur) Direct train from HB Zurich station to Chur ~ 1:12h Local "Post" bus starts directly from Chur train station (go on the upper floor to get the bus in the Chur train station), Get off at Lenzerheide Post Station (last stop on most buses).
Hint: There are two buses, one direct and one that stops on the way many times (in the winter seems to be one that takes 39 minutes and goes every hour). Check summer and winter schedule online.
